    ...Croatia’s voice in the United Nations is becoming more pronounced, from presiding over the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in 2002, to chairing and co-chairing various committees, commissions and other bodies. Whereas Croatia was once a recipient of UN peacekeeping missions, we have now become a troop-contributing country participating in 10 UN peacekeeping missions throughout the world. Continuing in this respect, Croatia has announced its candidature to become a non-permanent member of the Security Council for the term 2008-2009....
