| The Croatian Sports Centre (CSC) continues to
grow at an impressive rate, reaching milestone after milestone.
This year is no exception to the amount of achievements made.
The Adelaide Croatia Soccer Club after a 49-year history
finally established itself at its long awaited new home. Years
of talking and planning finally came to fruition and now Adelaide
Croatia has home of it's own, a goal which was long overdue.
The CSC and Adelaide Croatia have been praised and recognised
in soccer and sporting circles for building what will certainly
become one of the State's best facilities.
It is pleasing to finally have all our Croatian teams training
and playing at one venue especially when it belongs to us!
In financial terms it is extremely beneficial and vital to
the economic stability of the CSC to have all our teams at
the one location.
The government in its commitment has completed all necessary
service works by providing roads, water and electricity to
the CSC site. As a result we have been able to move more rapidly
by developing the grounds, providing power to the ground lights
and commencing the long awaited Stage 2 project (Main Building
and change rooms). We have estimated completion for the change
rooms to be March of next year and the Main Building which
will house the Soccer Club Rooms another year following.
As a part of our financial commitment to the government,
we have so far paid off $70,000.00 from the 10-year loan and
$33,000.00 off the "work in kind" agreement. Currently
we are in a very comfortable financial position.
Attendances have once again this year been outstanding in
particular the Church picnic, the 1st official game for Adelaide
Croatia at the CSC against Croydon Kings and the visit by
Melbourne dance group Hrvatska Zora. All of which proves that
with proper facilities the Croatian community here in SA will
prosper and remain strong.
Last year at the AGM a resolution was past to impose a levy
of $300.00 per member to assist in the building of Stage 2
development. Since that AGM invoices were issued and the response
from members to date has been slightly disappointing. Many
have sent through their pledge and we are grateful however
we urge you again if you haven't paid to please reconsider
and make a commitment to the CSC and to the Croatian Community.
As always we are looking for volunteers to help in all forms
of capacities because much work still needs to be done. We
are a voluntary organisation and we appreciate all the help
we can get.
I would like to personally thank all involved at the CSC
including all the volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure
a smooth operation, their efforts are very much appreciated.
